As we come to the end of our week together, I’d like to reflect on the theme for this Congress – ‘To Be Like You’. The feast of the Assumption of Mary and the readings for our Liturgy today offer an excellent context for this reflection.

The theme of the final day of the IX international Redemptorist youth congress was “to live like You”. This theme helps to put us on the path of living a full life. It is a type of summation of our joint search and experiences.

Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and stand with fear and trembling, and take no thought for any earthly thing; for the King of kings and Lord of lords cometh to be slain and given as food for the faithful. (Liturgy of St. Basil, Holy Saturday)

“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness.  God is the friend of silence.  See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence.... We need silence to be able to touch souls”. (Mother Teresa)

Відповідно до вже усталеної чудової традиції попередніх з’їздів, у нас є вечір, щоб особисто поспілкуватися з духівником і приступити до святого Таїнства Покаяння. Третій день З’їзду, четвер 12 серпня, був присвячений роздумам над подією Великої Суботи, днем, коли Христос, мовчки спочиваючи у гробі, зійшов до аду, розбив його брами і воскресив праведників Старого Завіту. Щоб гідно зустріти Ісуса, який хоче витягнути нас з нашого власного «аду», нам потрібно щиро покаятися. Гаслом дня було «Мовчати, як Ти». Тиша допомогає нам краще зрозуміти себе самих та почути Бога.
